Seunghee transports us to the abandoned town of your nostalgia with a mix for dancing alone to…

First and foremost thank you so much for taking the time to put this gorgeousssss mix together, can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix, is there anything you would prescribe doing while listening?

I was thinking about an abandoned space. Maybe somewhere in the outskirts of a small city. A yard full of every possible junk. Dogs running around chewing on car seats and toys by a farmer’s field. It has a nostalgic feeling to me. People drive by places like that.

It’s not really a village. There is no community. People live there but in a unique lifestyle, not to settle down, but to go through a journey.

I wanted this mix to be introspective. Something that I would dance to alone in my room, exploring my inner thoughts. It’s like peering through a crack in the wall until the eyes get used to the darkness. I would listen to this mix while getting my fortune read.

Seunghee, what is the mommy noodle you have been accredited with inventing?

It’s actually Janchi-Gooksu, a Korean noodle dish with Japanese somen. It’s a modern dish presumably invented during the Japanese invasion.

I left home when I was twelve to go live with my aunt in Canada. Since then, I’ve been cooking for myself, imitating nostalgic food as much as I can. For mommy noodle, I use fat dry anchovies and peppers, radish, roots of green onions and shiitake mushrooms to make the broth. It's served with Vietnamese rice noodle, egg drops and the special sauce (much garlic) I make once a year.

Obsessed with the yulheim.electronics concept and line-ups. How did this party come to exist and who else is involved in it? When is the next one and where?

Yulheim Electronics was born in Los Angeles. Me and DJ Snail became fast friends after falling into a portal in the desert, and began summoning party concepts. One thing led to another and we landed in Brooklyn where we met Elliot B and Yishin.x both who are the craziest artists I’ve met. The first time we DJ’d together I knew I met the right people.

In May, Yulheim Electronics is playing all night at our hatchery Mansions . Also planning a warehouse party for the hot summer!

Congratulations on launching your own mix series Polyrhythm Portal last year! Can you give us a hint at who else we can expect to be hearing on it and is there a specific sound or theme to the series?

Polyrhythm Portal is immersed in syncopated rhythm to reveal a burst of self-identity and immediate existence. Tune in to the portal to experience a trip to strange places and find yourself in a stranger life”

Polyrhythm Portal is going through a significant change at the moment, as the host (MoonglowFM) is going to be on hiatus indefinitely. I’ve decided to make it an independent web space. Special work is in the progress with magical guest DJs.

What’s next for Seunghee?

I went sober recently which is something I’ve always longed for. It was hard to keep a clear head during the first year of the night life. It really makes me look at things differently and I feel more honest with myself. With that, I’ve decided not to ask what fate has in store for me and live in the process.
