Match Box is the alias of Amsterdam based duo Bastiaan Van Berkel and Luuk Bergervoet, who are on top of the world right now following the release of their exalted opus EP, ‘Vantage Point’. A tip-top anthology of dancefloor heaters, the EP also features remixes by some of our other H&S favorites including Angel D’Lite, Bliss Inc, Dylan Forbes & Eoin DJ.
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this pure fire mix together, can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix, is there anything you would prescribe doing while listening?
We suggest you listen to this mix whilst riding an All Terrain Bike in a wet forest, with very fast glasses on.
We wanted to create a world where you step into the new mid 90s begin 2000’s ibiza vibez. In this mix you can hear some unreleased gems by our favorite producers and some tracks we’ve really wanted to put together.
Stoked you’ve rounded out the mix with your headlining track ‘Midnight’ featuring Elif Murat. Can you tell us a little bit about the sound behind Vantage Point and why it is for you your ‘exalted opus’?
First of all thanks a lot for the kind words <3
We were inspired by the clubs opening again and feeling like making club music after YOU KNOW WHAT ended. We took a lot of inspiration from early progressive trance, we used the lately bass from the Yamaha S30 a lot on this EP. Simply because we really love that old school sound.
For the track Midnight from the Vantage Point EP we used a lot of hardware like the Yamaha S30, Roland JP8000, Behringer TR 808 and the 303 . The vocals were a very beautiful addition to the track. We really wanted a vocal on this track but not an obvious one. So Luuk asked his classmate Elif Murat if she wanted to sing on this track. Luuk and Elif Murat connected during their time at the Conservatory. We wanted to give Elif full freedom to sing about whatever she felt and the end result was beautiful 🙂

Will there be anymore Vuemer events?
Yes we are working on it! We have a big list of names we want to book :) Our aim with Vuemer is to focus on booking producers over DJ’s to shine a light on the people behind our favorite tracks
Who are some of the biggest inspirations for you now and in the evolution of your sound? (collectives/artists/movies/food/anything)
Our biggest inspiration is just having fun in the studio. Watching weird dutch videos, and laughing our asses off. And of course we’re inspired by Orbital, Future Sound Of London and our friend Bliss Inc. Going to festivals and clubs is a big inspiration for new music as well and how to create music that resonates with people in a club setting.
What’s next for Match Box?
We have loads of music projects to finish haha. We’ve finally made our studio ready to go. We have a studio with the beautiful people from Kraft Und Licht! A creative hub with all different producers, a very inspiring place. And they do incredibly good parties.
Also we’ve just signed a new vinyl EP with the Goddezz family. Also releasing some tracks on V/A’s. And preparing a new edition of Vuemer!
