Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, DJ and producer Little Dead Girl is becoming a regular staple in the scene with their sensuous house selects. They’ve supported the likes of Soichi Terada and are about to release new music on Kyoto based label NC4k.
Can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix and what you would prescribe doing while listening to it?
This mix was made for the H&S mix series, but it could also be a collection of my memories of this summer. My summer this year was a very personal and memorable summer, and I wanted to keep it in some form of diary. I guess the theme is "dreamy minimal found in the midst of passion". Listen to it in any way you like and enjoy :)
This summer I've been playing a lot of Gerd's music as a DJ, and I've also been playing some tracks from his Frame of Mind sub-label, which reissues cult releases from 4 Lux, as well as some tracks from his own label.
“Synaptic Voyager - Gateway To Infinity” saved me a lot this summer, and I included it in the mix.
What and who are some venues and collectives/artists in Tokyo at the moment that we should be keeping an eye on?
My personal favorite venue is "SPREAD" in the Shimokitazawa area of Tokyo, where the sound is great and great Japanese DJs play every week. Another one is "MITSUKI" in Dogenzaka, Shibuya, where a lot of people gather from weekdays to weekends, and it is also a very energetic venue. I often party with a house collective called "CYK" in this vein. They always have a pure heart for music and nightclubs, and I trust them a lot. There is also a DJ in Japan called “Torei” . I think he is the most talented DJ in Japan. I'd love to hear a Torei H&S mix!
We’re in love with your remix of Pee.J Anderson’s Propamin - are there any releases of your own you’re working on at the moment?
Thank you : ) I like this remix too. I've been making a lot of euphoric songs like this recently.
You will soon be releasing new tracks with “Stones Taro” a Kyoto-based producer/DJ who runs the “NC4K” label, who is also involved in this project. I love the music that Stones Taro does, so I can't wait for the release. I hope people will look forward to it!

Is there a story behind your terrifying DJ name?
hihi : ) I didn't mean to give it a teriffy name, but a song I used to love listening to as a teenager was Sonic Youth - Little Trouble Girl.
When I started DJing, I suddenly remembered that and picked it up from the song title. It doesn't really have a meaning or anything. But I like it because I've lived with the name for years : )
What’s your favourite experience playing out to date? Or what is your favourite genre to play at the moment?
I had a party with Soichi Terada at "VENT" in Omotesando, Tokyo, and the whole floor was filled with a sense of euphoria from start to finish.
This year left a very strong impression on me. I also felt very happy when I was DJing. People from all walks of life gather here night after night with all kinds of feelings. I am in charge of such people's precious night. I thought I would tighten my grip as a DJ. I'm a House DJ, but I always try to develop and select music that will betray expectations in a good way. I always try to keep House manners, but also create something like "you'll find yourself dancing to my original grooves" every weekend at various clubs.
Finally, where can we catch you spinning in the not too distant future?
Every week I'm DJing at a club somewhere in Japan, and in November I'll be playing at a great Japanese festival called "Bonna Pot".
