Rounding out the year for us is Eoin DJ. Currently based in London via stints in Glasgow and Dublin, but hailing from the west of Ireland, Eoin has been quietly DJing, running parties and doing radio shows for the best part of the last decade.

Their own dancefloor productions are slowly emerging into the ether, with several contributions to the Radiant Records International Women’s Day compilations, a track on the Rhythm Section ‘Shouts’ compilation and a collaboration with Byron Yeates on the anthemic ‘Dreaming is Essential’. 2023 sees a debut EP and a string of European shows in the pipeline. Exciting times!

First and foremost, can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix, is there anything you would prescribe doing while listening?

I wanted to make something with all of the styles, moods and grooves I'm currently feeling. There are some personal classics, some recent vinyl rips and some edits I made in and amongst some straight up club bangers that I love. I also wanted to encapsulate a celebratory vibe to reign in the new year and bid farewell to the old.

I definitely had a cute and sexy NYE party situation in mind when mixing this. I hope the mix is enjoyed in the company of friends, lovers and strangers with many smiles wherever you find yourself!

How have you found the transition from Glasgow to London? Especially between the music scenes?

It’s quite tricky to compare- Glasgow is much smaller and has a really amazing close-knit community of super committed people doing lots of different things. I feel very lucky to have been involved in a very small capacity with Clyde Built Radio which served as a hub for this lovely creative cross-pollination.

London is obviously much bigger and has been a really great move for me though, I’ve met so many great like-minded people and I have the opportunity to connect with more people in the same musical sphere as me, as well as seeing more friends from other places who seem to pass through a lot. There are some really exciting collaborations which I’m excited to bring to fruition in 2023 that have come about as a result of the move too. Shout out to all of my people everywhere though!

How will you be spending your NYE? And what’s in and out for 2023 in your books?

Probably keeping it chill and doing cute stuff with friends and then a big rave at Adonis on New Year’s Day!

In for 2023… hmmm…. hope, kindness, compassion, though they never went out of fashion.

Musically, I’m really enjoying hearing djs delve further into genres that would initially have been written off as too trashy or tacky and presenting the tracks in a new context- it’s really cool hearing this influence in contemporary productions too. I feel lucky to live in an epoch where we have SO much access to music! There’s so much out there!

Out- an over reliance on promoters booking the same line ups all of the time I hope ;)

What else are you working on and where can we catch you spinning in the not too distant future?!

I’m super excited for 2023! My debut EP is coming out on one of my favourite labels in the next few months which has been suuuuuch a special project. I’ve been lucky to work on the release with lots of people that are very very dear to me, so I can’t wait to have it out in the world!

All going to plan I should be releasing another couple of records later in the year too on some other labels that I really love. They’ll come when they come but I’m so thankful for the belief and that people have taken the time to listen to my productions. Feels a bit surreal!

In terms of gigs, I’m really excited to be playing at Jolene in Copenhagen in January b2b with Angel D’lite. We’re also on the same bill at a really sick party at OHM in Berlin at the beginning of February with one of the cutest line ups of all time- I’m sure this will be out in the world pretty soon. There’s a bunch of other stuff that’s brewing slowly for later in the year too. Feeling very grateful to be given all of these amazing opportunities! Thanks to everyone who’s ever supported me! Happy New Year!
